‘Reality Shows’- An unrevealed truth...

Immense talent in our country is the primary key to mounting TRP’s of reality shows. They provide the exposure, fame and most importantly the impetus to perform better. Unanimously the credit has to be given to entire team, especially judges who perform the gruelling task of choosing their contestants. For such celebrities, examining lacks with the same level of patience and unbiased attitude just for the sake of promoting and bringing forth talent of the country is worth acknowledging. However midst all this do we realize that the memories of title holder get blurred soon after, and they tend to disappear into thin air.

Be it a singing paradigm like Indian Idol, Amul Star Voice of India or a search for dancing sensation, in all most all the seasons winners have the same fate. Big dreams of playback singing or choreography in the film fraternity sounds farfetched even to those who seem in complete control of the skills they possess. What is the reason for the prevailing trend? If they are so good that you can make onstage promises of signing them for the upcoming films then why not complete it. Despite of a plethora of realities shows now popular in the Indian subcontinent, we seldom see any contestant making it big in the industry. Though there are some laudatory examples like Sunidhi Chauhan, Harshit Sinha, Shreya Ghoshal who are doing a commendable job today but again these are very few when compared to the number of title shows running in the country. Asha Bhosle openly flaunting in Indian Idol about Lata Mangeshkar liking and following Devendra Pal Singh is merely a publicity stunt to satisfy the pockets of the producers or she really means what she says.

The answer to this probably rests with the judges. You can consider it a truth unrevealed, but there has to be either of the two reasons- either they lack the requisite skill of playback singing or the whole concept of reality shows is a fake. Even if they lack the finish to shine in playback singing, a special training institute has to be setup for them because they have the talent. Leaving them isolated to return back to their original lifestyle is really not done by some of the finest artists of the country. Maybe, jury can understand and feel the guilt if they step into the  shoes of strugglers. However a more probable reason is that these shows are just conducted with the purpose of fooling and flouting the sentiments of the contestants. If this is the case then slowly and gradually people will realize the reality because after all this Indian audience has a mind of its own. The last thing which someone from among the infuriated public can do is to file an RTI against these shows regarding the efforts actually put in to make these talents do well in the industry.
