Being Under Pressure

Right from our kindergarten we all have noticed numerous kinds of pressures at diverse stages of our lives.  Ever tried to sense what is the root cause of these stresses which we face in our routine lives??? It’s the word- “COMPETITION”. Knowingly or unknowingly we have spent our lives in so much competition that we have become oblivious to it. However still whenever it’s the question of performing there’s a different set of equations involved. Someone recently quoted to me- “There’s a difference in studying everyday and performing in the exams.” This is the difference I am talking about.

Should we always consider pressure a negative aspect?? According to me it’s all about your own perception. While some get that kick in them whenever they are stressed up, others are just kicked out of the competition due to the trauma they have to face. It’s like a computer virus affecting their whole body system and ultimately making their system crash down. If you think practically it’s not always about performing. Sometimes you have the burden of someone’s expectations and other times it’s about saving your own face.

So how do we actually convert these pressures into our strength??? The other day I was watching a video by “Neha Aggarwal”(Indian Olympic Table Tennis Player) in which she discussed what she actually thinks at those critical moments when one move can decide the course of a match. The answer was really straightforward.” I think about what would come about if I win”. Try putting yourself in her shoes and you would discover that it takes guts to believe that way. This is what distinguishes these people from the common public who do not make large in life.

One thing that can help you absorb the hassle at any stage of life is the presence of your loved ones whenever you are facing the heat. However you can be rest assured that this is not always possible. There will be some point in life when you are left all by yourself and asked to perform to the highest level. So what is it that will help you throughout your life, something which will stay with you forever?? “SELF CONFIDENCE” is the right trait if you are looking to do something similar which all successful lads do.

Self Confidence is not something that you can relish right from day one. It’s something which has to be nurtured for years before it starts giving you the edge over others and once you are in that groove then things will be far more simple for you than for the rest of the world. The environment around you right from the time you were a child determines what kind of persona you’ll have once you grow up. I don’t find people at fault for not having that self confidence. It’s the environment that is to be blamed in which they were kept. The more conservative and protective you are towards your ward, the more he will turn inwards towards people and towards life. As a result lack of self confidence will always be a handicap for him.

However it’s never too late to start. All we have to do is realize the correct meaning of EDUCATION and things will robotically start changing around us. The purpose is to build a strong person inside you and not a geek who always has his heart in his mouth in thorny times.
